Priorities
Waconia Public School district just completed updating the Strategic Plan for 2024-2028.
As a current member of the school board, my priorities align with the
Districts Mission/Vision/Values and Strategic Plan
Building a Strong School District: The Three-Legged Stool of Success
Imagine our school district as a sturdy three-legged stool, where each leg is crucial to maintaining balance and ensuring the overall stability of our educational system. As a candidate for the school board, I am committed to fortifying each of these legs—students, staff, and finances—to build a strong, successful district for all.
The First Leg: Students
The first leg of our stool is our students—the heart of our educational mission. We focus on providing them with a high-quality education that not only meets but exceeds their needs. This means ensuring each student has access to resources, opportunities, and support systems, fostering both academic and personal growth. From implementing innovative curricula and engaging teaching methods to supporting extracurricular activities and mental health initiatives, every decision we make should revolve around enhancing the student experience. When our students thrive, the entire district benefits.
The Second Leg: Staff
The second leg is our dedicated staff—teachers, administrators, and support personnel who are the backbone of our schools. Investing in our staff is investing in our students. This includes providing competitive salaries, professional development opportunities, and a supportive work environment. As a former teacher, I know when our staff feels valued and empowered, they are better equipped to inspire, educate, and support our students. Strong, motivated staff members are essential for creating a positive, productive learning environment where students can excel.
The Third Leg: Finances
The third leg represents our finances—an essential component which supports the other two legs. Financial stability and prudent management ensure we can fund programs, maintain facilities, and provide necessary resources. Effective financial planning involves not just budgeting but also seeking additional funding opportunities, grants, and community partnerships. Responsible financial stewardship allows us to allocate resources where they are needed most and to invest in long-term projects that benefit both students and staff. Without sound financial management, even the best plans for students and staff can falter.
The Balanced Stool
A successful school district is one where all three legs of the stool are strong and well-supported. By focusing on the needs of our students, investing in our staff, and ensuring financial stability, we create a balanced and thriving educational environment. As a school board candidate, I am committed to strengthening each of these legs to build a robust, successful district where every student has the opportunity to succeed and every staff member has the support they need to make a difference.
Together, we can build a brighter future for our schools and our community.
